Everybody loves cupcakes., and they make an instant and delicious centerpiece. You could frost your cupcakes in the Olympic colors, or dress up simple cupcakes with these Olympic ring cupcake wrappers, available for free download!
Games
What’s a party without party games? If you like a serving of trivia with your main sports viewing dish, try on this Winter Olympics trivia for size.
If you have a Nintendo Wii U, no doubt you’re already familiar with our buddy Mario. Mario and Sonic the Hedgehog have teamed up to offer 16 Olympic Events in their aptly named Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games. You could take a break from the telecast and try speed skating or curling your way to Wii victory.
Winter Olympics Bingo cards are also a great choice. Tailor the words you include on the cards for opening ceremony, or any of the live events.
Prizes
Pick up some USA themed apparel or design your own custom party t-shirts to give away as prizes. If you’re feeling crafty, here’s a link to DIY gold medals. If you want to make gold medals that look like the real deal – here’s a closeup of the 2014 Sochi Gold Medals. The 2014 shutter sunglasses make a great party favor and accessory for photo ops. To bring a little Russia to your home, serve up some Russian chocolates.
Snacks
The Olympic torch is one of the most enduring symbols of the games. Cupcakes are a party staple! Pair these two for some amazing Olympic Torch cupcakes! Sugar cones, mini-cupcakes, frosting and candy clay will have all your guests running with the torch. The look amazing and taste even better!
Grab some mini-pails in the Olympic colors, or spray paint ones to match – and create your own Olympic Candy Bar! We like the idea of adding gold candy as well. Think Twix, Rolo, gold coins or special varieties of Hershey Kisses to round out the look.
Sugar cookies are one of the most versatile of the edible palettes. Whip up a tray or two of sugar cookies, frost and add M&M’s to replicate the Olympic rings. You could also add the M&M rings to cupcakes! Voila! Winter Olympics cookies for all!
And this is where we get into the real meat (or vegetarian, if you prefer) of the Olympics Party menu. Find your favorite pizza recipe and top with Olympic rings! Pineapple, avocado, red peppers, green peppers, banana peppers, mushrooms and black olives are all options here! Or – you can top with your favorite country’s flag!
